Calculation assumptions
Payments assume a standard fixed-rate, fully amortizing loan with monthly payments. Payment timing, lender rounding and contract terms may change results. Loan totals use the unrounded amortization payment; the displayed monthly amount is rounded to cents, and a final payment may differ.
Quote comparisons allow a $1 difference in either the out-the-door total or monthly payment for rounding. This is a comparison threshold, not a legal tolerance. APR-only calculations are approximate and cannot establish a contractual payment error.
Cash down and trade equity reduce borrowing, not the quoted out-the-door price. Negative equity increases the amount to cover. Excess contributions are not assumed to be automatically refunded.

Guides for this decision
How to use this tool
Enter selling price and quoted tax/title/registration, then any dealer fees and add-ons, counting each charge once. Enable trade-in or financing only when relevant. Results separate purchase totals, trade equity, and estimated loan costs; differences suggest questions to clarify with the dealer.
Common questions
What if tax, title, and registration are unknown?
Leave the field blank. Results show a subtotal before these charges rather than a complete purchase total or final financing estimate. Enter zero only when the quoted amount is actually zero.
Is APR the same as the loan interest rate?
APR can include financing fees. Select APR only if that is all you have; payment and borrowing-cost results will be approximate. Actual lender rounding, timing, and contract terms may differ.
Does matching the quote mean it is a good deal?
No. This tool checks entered arithmetic and financing assumptions, not fair market price or vehicle value. Differences are questions to clarify and do not prove misconduct.
From out-the-door price to monthly car payment
This advanced car deal calculator starts with the agreed selling price, quoted tax/title/registration, dealer fees and selected add-ons. Together, those make the out-the-door purchase total before trade equity and cash down. Enter complete amounts from the same written offer to check the quote’s arithmetic.
Amount financed is the purchase total minus your cash down payment and trade equity. Equity is the trade allowance minus the old loan payoff: positive equity reduces borrowing, while negative equity adds to the amount to cover. Quoted taxes stay as entered; this calculator does not recompute a state trade-in tax credit.
Compare monthly payment, total loan payments and interest together. APR-based results are approximate. Matching the dealer’s numbers does not establish fair market value, financing approval or whether each fee is permitted.
